As an Underground Construction Foreman II, you will independently lead complex underground construction and maintenance operations involving HDD drilling, locating, and problem-solving in the field. You will oversee crew performance, quality, and production, ensuring all work meets design specifications and safety requirements. This role requires a higher level of technical competency, field leadership, and operational planning. What You’ll Do Lead a crew performing new construction and maintenance of underground fiber/utility systems. Operate HDD drilling and locating equipment with advanced troubleshooting capability. Coordinate production goals, equipment needs, and field planning for daily and weekly operations. Interpret and validate utility maps, construction prints, and as-builts. Perform trenching, pulling, conduit placement, and handhole installation. Ensure compliance with safety procedures, utility locating requirements, and job site standards. Mentor Foreman I and crew members; assist with developing technical skills. Resolve escalated field issues and communicate progress with leadership. What You’ll Bring High school diploma or GED. 5–7 years of underground fiber/utility construction experience. 2+ years of crew leadership experience with complex underground operations. Advanced HDD drilling and locating proficiency. Ability to independently plan and execute production work. Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications Experience leading multi-phase or high-visibility projects. Proficiency reviewing and updating redlines or field documentation. Familiarity with QC processes and MRE considerations.
