This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Teaching Assistant for the Department of Forest Engineering, Resources + Management (FERM) at Oregon State University (OSU). The Department of Forest Engineering, Resources and Management invites applications for an hourly student teaching assistant for Winter and Spring terms. The incumbent will assist the instructor with grading weekly submitted homework assignments per established schedule and any other minor office tasks that may be assigned. In this position, students learn and build vital career-readiness skills in the primary areas below: Communication, Critical Thinking, Teamwork, and Technology.

  • Assist the Instructor with grading submitted Microsoft Office application-based assignments (specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Other minor office tasks as assigned.
  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
  • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
  • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
  • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term
  • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
  • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term
  • International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
  • A strong proficiency level with Microsoft Office 2016 or later.
  • Passed a similar computer course using Microsoft Office 2016.
  • Student applicant must have access to a reliable Windows based computer (or Mac running a Windows environment) with Microsoft Office 2016 or later installed.
  • Strong preference for applicants who passed a similar computer course using Microsoft Office 2016 or higher with a minimum grade of 'B'.
  • Engineering, Business, or Forestry Major.
  • Student has taken one or more Microsoft Office based computer course(s) passing with a minimum grade of 'B'.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficient use of the Microsoft Office 2016-21 suite of software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Previous grading experience.
