About The Position

The Undergraduate Studies Coordinator plays a central role in supporting a diverse portfolio of academic programs and student success initiatives across the university. This position provides comprehensive administrative coordination for Undergraduate Studies, including General Studies, Undeclared Student Success, IS3D, Supplemental Instruction, mentoring programs, and academic internships. From coordinating faculty hiring and class scheduling to supporting student registration and program operations, the role ensures seamless delivery of services that impact a wide range of students and campus partners. Serving as a key point of contact for faculty, staff, and students, this is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced, student-centered environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to conceptualize, organize, initiate and implement complex, multi-faceted projects independently.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with students, faculty, staff, and administrators
  • Understanding of student success goals, initiatives, and programs.
  • Ability to lead, moderate, and guide large and small groups with clear objectives.
  • Ability to project and manage program expenses.
  • These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.
  • Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and promote programs in a higher education environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships in a collaborative and team-based higher education environment is preferred.
  • Experience in student recruitment, training, hiring, and mentoring is preferred.
  • Experience with SDSU campus information systems, including my.SDSU is preferred.
  • Strong diplomatic skills, with the ability to foster collaboration and cooperation among all constituents within a complex higher education environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, facilitates, implements office operations in support of academic and student services that serve undergraduate students.
  • Manage hiring processes for part-time faculty, teaching associates, and student assistants in compliance with university procedures.
  • Develop and support class schedule production in collaboration with the Office of the Registrar and campus partner units.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for visitors while supporting front desk operations and shared spaces, reports to the director of Undergraduate Studies.
  • Assist with program operations including event planning, purchasing, payroll support, field placements, and inventory management.
