About The Position

The Research Assistant student position will work closely with a professor to coordinate research activities in the Arctic Research Lab. The ideal candidate should have a strong academic background, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for research.

Requirements

• Experience working in a geochemistry or organic chemistry lab.
• This position is available only to enrolled American University students.

Responsibilities

• Research Assistance Collaborate with the professor on ongoing research projects.
• Support lipid extractions of various sample types including sediments, invertebrate tissue and marine mammals.
• Investigate marine particle fluxes by electron microscopy.
• Administrative Tasks Manage undergraduate students supporting projects in the lab.
• Develop a coordination platform for all members of the lab.
• Update the lab website.
• Monitor inventory of lab consumables and assist with reordering supplies.
