About The Position

The University of Indianapolis is seeking part-time undergraduate nursing clinical adjunct instructors to provide clinical teaching in nursing laboratories or hospital settings. This role is designed for experienced registered nurses who can instruct and evaluate nursing students in various clinical environments. The position is flexible, with opportunities for both daytime and evening teaching, and is based on current enrollment needs.

Requirements

  • Must have at least eighteen (18) months of experience as a registered nurse (RN).
  • Evidence of expertise appropriate to teaching specialty area (i.e.: Fundamental nursing skills, Peds, OB, Psych, Geriatric, Critical Care, Med-Surg).
  • Clinical experience necessary to function effectively and safely in the area of assigned responsibility.
  • Prior college or university teaching experience preferred.
  • Ability to meet health credentials requirements if teaching in clinical settings.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required; Master's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Criminal history and background check clearance.
  • Evidence of current American Heart Association CPR training.
  • Current unencumbered and valid RN license in the state of Indiana or nursing license compact state.

  • Prior college or university teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and evaluate students in nursing laboratory or clinical settings.
  • Attend required clinical agency orientation, if applicable.
  • Supervise and maintain laboratories and equipment if teaching in the nursing lab.
  • Attend workshops on D2L (Brightspace) if applicable to clinical course.
  • Attend Department of Nursing adjunct orientation before the start of each semester or as required.
  • Evaluate student learning in a clinical setting using a standard evaluation tool provided by the School of Nursing.
  • Adhere to School of Nursing policies and procedures as outlined in the nursing student and faculty handbooks.
  • Participate in end of course program reports and evaluations with the course lead faculty.
  • Follow the guidance and direction of course lead faculty and/or supervisor(s).
  • Demonstrate respectful, ethical, responsible behavior.
  • Abide by the University's policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform other duties, including special projects, as required or assigned.
