About The Position

The College of Nursing invites applications for adjunct faculty in the Department of Undergraduate Programs to provide instruction and supervision in clinical settings for Spring and Summer 2026. The adjunct faculty member will facilitate student learning in alignment with course objectives, emphasizing safe, evidence-based nursing practice. The role is primarily clinical, with opportunities to teach across a variety of healthcare environments. Clinical assignment opportunities are available in multiple program tracks, including evenings and weekends. Adjunct faculty must have an on-site presence and are required to engage in classroom, lab, simulation, and clinical-based teaching, supporting the development of future nursing professionals. Adjunct faculty will join a dynamic group of nursing educators with a strong commitment to student success through innovative evidence-based teaching strategies, interprofessional collaboration, and fostering an environment where every student feels valued and supported. This role requires regular, in-person attendance at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. Candidates must be able to travel to clinical sites as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in nursing or relevant field (e.g., MPH, MBA); applicants with a BSN and significant clinical experience may be considered with enrollment in a graduate program or other qualifications (e.g., national certification).
  • If graduate degree is not in nursing, a bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.
  • Current unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee or compact state.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant clinical experience in nursing.
  • Knowledge of computer/audiovisual software and technology, including learning management systems and supplemental instructional platforms.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based nursing education practices.
  • Knowledge of nursing accreditation standards.
  • Knowledge of current healthcare practices including current technologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a wide range of faculty, staff, students, and clinical partners.
  • Ability to effectively engage and motivate students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, staff, and clinical partners.
  • Ability to engage in clinical teaching as per workload assignment.
  • Ability to travel to clinical agencies based on workload assignment.
  • Ability to travel to other campus sites for teaching as per workload negotiation.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Nursing.
