About the position

The University at Buffalo School of Law is seeking a full-time Lecturer for its undergraduate Law BA program. This non-tenure track position focuses primarily on teaching undergraduate law courses, with responsibilities including course development and student assessment. The position is renewable and requires teaching the equivalent of 15 credits per year, with no scholarship production required.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in law, typically two three-credit courses in Fall and Spring and one three-credit course in the summer or winter.
  • Develop syllabi and identify appropriate instructional materials, potentially including remote learning.
  • Demonstrate expertise in assigned subjects and effectively share that expertise with undergraduate students.
  • Contribute to and maintain an inclusive and collaborative learning environment.
  • Provide prompt and productive feedback to students regarding their work.
  • Assess student performance against learning outcomes.
  • Attend faculty meetings in the fall and spring semesters.

Requirements

  • J.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree.
  • A demonstrated history of successful teaching at the graduate or undergraduate level.
  • Two or more years of professional legal experience.
  • Supervisory experience in a legal practice setting.
