The project is mostly experimental. The topic is spectroscopy and control of single atomic impurities in diamond and silicon carbide for quantum technologies. It involves putting together an optical path with a few optical elements, aligning a low power laser through that path, setting up computer control of a tunable laser and integrating this program into the broader computer control architecture of the experimental setup. If time allows, the project will also include measurement and control of single NV centers in diamond.
