The Community Preservation Corporation (CPC) is a nonprofit multifamily finance company that was founded in 1974 to provide financial and technical resources to stabilize and revitalize underserved communities in New York City. What your internship will look like at CPC: The Summer Internship program runs: Monday, June 1 – Friday, August 7, 2026. Professional development sessions throughout the summer to learn more about the various functions and departments within CPC. Tours offered to view current properties and construction projects throughout NY state. Service Day – a chance for employees to get out of the office, spend time with colleagues and give back to the community. Bi-weekly check-ins with intern group and CPC leaders to stay connected. We provide a hot breakfast 3x week, including snacks and drinks. This is a full-time, hybrid intern program: you will work from our office at least three days a week, with a remote option up to two days a week. $20 / hour pay rate, 35 hours / week. All interns will be based in the NYC Office (near Grand Central), except for two interns who will be based in the Chappaqua Office (480 Bedford Road, Chappaqua, NY). Interns based in the Chappaqua Office will work from that office location at least three days a week and be expected to commute to the NYC Office three-four times during the ten-week internship program for orientation, site visits and a final intern presentation. We are seeking interns for each department / function listed below: ACCESS – NYC Office The ACCESS team is seeking an individual interested in working collaboratively across the CPC platform providing exposure to all tools and products intended to empower ACCESS developers (individuals who identify as having been historically and systemically excluded from economic opportunities), with both human and financial resources. This person should possess basic knowledge in presentation functionality utilizing Excel and PowerPoint applications. The intern will provide support for all ACCESS programming inclusive of community engagement activities, conferences, and speaking engagements. The ACCESS intern will have an opportunity to interface with internal and external partners by providing logistical and technical support to the ACCESS team. 2. Credit and Construction Portfolio Servicing/Management – NYC Office The Credit and Construction Portfolio Servicing/Management intern will learn the full lifecycle of construction financing and portfolio risk management. The intern will gain an understanding of the mechanics and structure of construction and affordable housing financing, develop analytical skills, and receive hands-on experience through site visits while working with a collaborative team and providing superior customer service to internal and external clients. This role combines responsibilities from Construction Loan Administration, Portfolio Management, and Credit teams, providing exposure to affordable housing financing, loan documentation, and regulatory compliance. The intern will assist in setting up new loans in our Strategy System, running insurance analyses, and supporting the maintenance of current insurance policies for the entire portfolio. They will learn the basics of loan servicing, including monitoring collateral databases, letters of credit, and suspense loan fund accounts, as well as managing and tracking cross-collateralized loan documentation, including correspondence with external banks. In addition, the intern will support credit review and assessment processes for a $1.47BB construction loan portfolio and perform portfolio data input and analysis. 3. Finance – NYC Office The Finance intern will gain a comprehensive understanding of essential corporate finance principles. Through the program, the intern will develop proficiency in various areas including budgeting, forecasting, modeling, reporting, and analysis. The program consists of financial planning and analysis, systematic support for CPC's businesses, corporate-level presentations, and leveraging diagnostic tools to streamline and enhance analyses. Moreover, the intern will gain an understanding of how affordable housing lenders collaborate with capital markets to provide investment in underserved communities. By the end of the program, the intern will possess the skills and knowledge necessary to enter a corporate finance position. 4. Human Resources – NYC Office We are seeking a motivated Human Resources (HR) Intern to support initiatives that strengthen company culture and employee engagement. This role offers hands-on experience in creating inclusive, connected workplaces and contributing to meaningful HR projects. The intern will collaborate with the Corporate Culture Council, assist in developing internal resources and tools that promote a positive workplace culture, conduct research on industry best practices, and support the management and organization of a digital SharePoint library for HR resources. Additionally, the intern will contribute to building an inclusive and welcoming environment for all employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in fostering connections and enhancing workplace culture, excellent research skills with the ability to analyze and synthesize information from diverse sources, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional organizational abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively while managing multiple tasks effectively are essential for success in this role. This internship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in HR strategy, culture-building, and employee engagement while working alongside a passionate team committed to inclusion and belonging. 5. Operations: IT – NYC Office The Operations team is seeking an intern with an interest in the broad spectrum of functions that fall under the umbrella of the Chief Operating Officer: technology (cybersecurity, originations, servicing, CRM and AI), and data management. The right candidate will interface daily with CPC’s proprietary systems and databases to support the automation of processes through assigned research and data validation activities. The internship will include internal and external operations networking and educational opportunities, such as partnering cross-functionally on audits, attending curated training events and interactions with top leaders for career development guidance. The successful intern will have a desire to learn more about operations in the CDFI and housing finance industries. Their contributions will aid our team in identifying innovative solutions to existing challenges, while also making suggestions on how to improve operational efficiencies. You will collaborate with stakeholders to define and document technical requirements for business solutions. Analyze business processes, gather requirements, and create detailed specifications. Support development, testing, and implementation of new systems. If you have a solid data analytics foundation, proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.,) effective communication skills, introductory project management knowledge, and are fascinated by the cross-departmental partnerships and the behind-the-scenes work that help ensure an organization thrives, this is the opportunity for you. In addition, foundational data and business analytics skills are a plus, along with experience using data analysis tools such as SQL and Tableau; knowledge of software development methodologies like Agile and Waterfall; exposure to project management tools such as SmartSheets; and familiarity with CRM systems (HubSpot, Salesforce) and AI technologies (CoPilot, ChatGPT). 6. External Affairs: Marketing & Events – NYC Office The Marketing & Events team is seeking an intern who is passionate about connecting our organizational mission and vision with impactful panel opportunities and strategic event execution. As a core part of our team, you will help align our goals and talent with speaking engagements, industry panels, and community events, ensuring our initiatives are visible, and our voice is heard. You’ll play a hands-on role in the planning, management, and optimization of events—supporting everything from research and documentation to outreach and logistics. This is an opportunity to develop your skills in event strategy, stakeholder engagement, and marketing communications, while contributing to the success of high-profile events and campaigns. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an interest in strategic communications and event management are essential. 7. Loan Surveillance Operations – Chappaqua Office The Loan Surveillance Operations team seeks an intern to join our Chappaqua, NY office and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with asset managers, asset management analysts, and servicing portfolio administrators overseeing multifamily assets, learning key aspects of portfolio performance, property inspections, financial analysis, risk monitoring, servicing operations, GSE loan surveillance, and reporting requirements. The ideal candidate will contribute through targeted risk management, data entry, and CPC’s permanent loan portfolio analysis while engaging with internal systems and processes that drive excellence in asset management. This internship includes exposure to collaborative projects, audit participation, and opportunities to engage with CPC’s leadership for career development and industry insights.
