About The Position

The Unarmed Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of customers and employees, protecting property, and maintaining order in a courteous, attentive, and informative manner. The officer will secure premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, and inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points. They will prevent losses and damage by responding to and reporting unusual incidents or occurrences to minimize or deter hazardous situations. The officer will assist the Sergeant in enforcing security regulations, participate in surveillance activities, and check and verify that all doors are secured. They will also inspect for fire hazards and inform the Sergeant of any issues. The role includes completing reports, maintaining contact with management and dispatch, and taking appropriate action in emergencies, including rendering first aid. The officer will interact with the public, assist patrons and employees, and maintain poise under stress. They are expected to follow safety policies, obtain necessary certifications, attend meetings and training, and maintain confidentiality and integrity.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or 1 year related experience and/or training.
• Some experience in protective service, military security, or similar work preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to act quickly and intelligently in emergency situations.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to express oneself clearly orally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently or as a team.
• Strong interpersonal skills and high integrity.
• Working knowledge of self-defense and controlling uncooperative subjects.
• Ability to work effectively under highly stressful conditions.
• Knowledge of basic fire prevention and control techniques.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend effectively in English.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual skills helpful.
• Experience as a Security Officer, military police officer, or law enforcement officer.

Responsibilities

• Obtains necessary certifications and attends training as scheduled.
• Maintains licensing criteria of the Texas Commission on Private Security.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Wears and maintains uniform and equipment according to requirements.
