About The Position

The Unarmed Security Officer at Mercy Health Lorain is a PRN "As-Needed" position responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and associates. The officer will monitor all areas of the hospital, including parking facilities and traffic, in accordance with hospital policy. This role involves conducting periodic fire drills, routine safety inspections, and responding to emergency situations to resolve incidents that could result in harm. The officer will also maintain customer rights, interact with various stakeholders, and ensure compliance with hospital policies.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Completion of certification in the Use of Force program and crisis intervention, along with other required training.

Nice To Haves

• Certification in PPCT and handcuffing techniques.
• BLS certification.
• 3 years of experience in Law Enforcement, Military, or Corrections.

Responsibilities

• Monitor all areas of the hospital to ensure safety and security.
• Conduct periodic fire drills and routine safety inspections.
• Respond to fire alarms and participate as a fire team member.
• Address emergency situations to resolve incidents that could cause harm.
• Maintain confidentiality, privacy, safety, and security of customers.
• Interact with patients, physicians, coworkers, and visitors in alignment with the hospital's mission and core values.
• Monitor compliance with hospital policies regarding solicitation, smoking, parking, and visiting hours.
• Conduct investigations of reported lost and/or stolen items.
