About The Position

The Security Officer at Atrium Health is responsible for overseeing a designated area to ensure the safety and security of team members, patients, visitors, and property. This role involves enforcing rules and regulations, providing assistance, documenting incidents, and taking corrective actions to maintain a safe environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Previous security, military, law enforcement experience or related field preferred.
• Must pass an Atrium mandated psychological evaluation prior to and during employment.
• Complete training from Atrium Health including Non-Violent Crisis Intervention/De-escalation, defensive tactics, baton, and TASER within 90 days of hire.
• Successfully complete Atrium Health minimum standards for unarmed security officers including background investigation, physical ability, and psychological testing within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Unarmed Guard license as required by the NC Private Protective Services Board.
• Effective communication skills in both oral and written form.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a fixed post or patrol an assigned area to preserve peace and order.
• Protect persons and property within the Atrium Health premises.
• Enforce the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Atrium Health.
• Provide assistance to team members, patients, and visitors.
• Document observations, hazards, and incidents for follow-up corrective action.
• Assist with traffic and parking patrol, potentially operating an Atrium Health Security Vehicle.
• Take immediate corrective action against hazards and conditions that may cause injury or damage.
• Report any actions needed or taken to upper management.
• Assist with proactive loss prevention programs.
