Security Patrols: Conduct regular, uniformed security patrols of the Hyde Street Pier, its buildings, and historic ships. Patrol Logging: Operate a computerized tracking system (e.g., Tracktik) to record patrols at 26 synchronized locations within Hyde Street Pier. Vary Patrols: Ensure patrol times vary to avoid predictable intervals, maintaining a minimum of a two-hour gap between patrols. Site Presence: Remain on duty at the assigned site throughout the shift. Relief Management: Only leave the site if a qualified replacement (another contractor security officer or an on-duty park ranger) provides relief. Radio Operation: Carry and operate an NPS-supplied two-way radio for communication. Radio Maintenance Reporting: Note any inoperable radios in the log for repair or replacement and obtain a temporary replacement from the Park COR. Communication Center Notification: Notify the National Park Service (NPS) communication center via radio prior to and after each patrol, and during any unusual or emergency situations. Intruder Response (Non-Confrontational): If suspicious behavior or activity is observed, immediately contact the NPS communication center and report the intrusion (location, description of individuals). Stay out of sight, if possible, until assistance arrives. Do not approach intruders. Call the NPS communication center before investigating suspected intrusions or dockings. Docking Attempt Response: Use a high-candle powered beam light to ward off boats attempting to land on premises. May use a bullhorn to advise vessels to steer clear. If a vessel closes to voice range, advise it to steer clear or that the US Coast Guard and United States Park Police will be notified. If a vessel continues to attempt docking, immediately notify the NPS communication center via radio, providing vessel type, hull number (if possible), location, and number of people. Do not confront intruders once a vessel docks; maintain visual contact and relay observations while awaiting assistance.
