AGS is looking for MALE Unarmed Detention Officers (Adult Male Housing Unit) to work in El Paso, Texas. To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today! Hourly Rate: $30.00/hour plus $5.09 H&W Offering a $2,500 sign on bonus for qualified hires that have a current DHS clearance.

Requirements

Must be able to meet all health requirements.
Must be U.S. citizen or US legal permanent residents residing in the US for at least 3 of the last 5 years
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Minimum 1 year experience in security, law enforcement or military preferred.
Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record or poor credit history).
Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance.
Pass all pre-employment and random drug tests.
Pass a medical examination and meet health requirements.
At least 21 years of age.
Possess a valid state driver's license.
Ability to obtain and maintain a state security guard license.
Ability to greet and deal tactfully and professionally with the general public.
Read, write, speak fluent English.
Proficient at observation, memory of events, and ability to recall events to document in written reports.
Capable of following, interpreting, and understanding written and verbal orders, policies and regulations, printed rules and regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions and materials, and can compose written and oral reports.
Ability to exercise good judgment: courage, alertness, an even temperament, and render satisfactory performance through his/her responsibilities.
Ability to maintain poise and self-control during potential emergencies and unexpected situations that may involve mental and physical stress such as disturbances, altercations, fires, and building evacuations.
Maintain a professional personal appearance, calm demeanor, and discretion with confidential information.
Possess a high degree of integrity, accountability and adhere to the American Correctional Association and DHS ICE Performance Based National Detention Standards.
Demonstrate an ability to work with a diverse population of people, including people of different cultures, with different values and lifestyles, with a cross-cultural perspective.
Maintain current/physical residency in the continental United States.
Must be willing and able to work any shift.
Ability to walk through all areas of the facility for tours of duty in varied (sometimes extreme) weather conditions.
Ability to stand, sit, walk, and bend for extended periods of time.
Ability to respond quickly during emergency situations, including jogging and fast walking to incidents.
Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs frequently and up to 70 pounds occasionally.
Must be able to push a wheelchair bound individual weighing up to 300 pounds and helping individual in and out of chair.
Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, reach, and climb stairs, ladders and slopes periodically.
Strictly maintain physical fitness standards for law enforcement related position throughout your employment under this contract.
Must be capable of performing CPR and rendering assistance when needed.

Responsibilities

Performs duties as an unarmed male detention officer primarily in the male housing units, including the detention, processing, safeguarding, security, and escort of male detainees as required by contract.
Exercises surveillance and control over primarily male detainees, maintaining order and discipline.
Provides care, custody, and control of primarily male detainees, including attending to housing, feeding, lavatories, and physical well-being, 24 hours a day.
Conducts security and sanitation checks of assigned areas before and during shifts.
Inventories and inspects all authorized equipment, ensuring items are in proper working condition, including verifying that the communication radio is functional and fully charged.
Makes official, accurate, and legible entries in assigned post logbooks.
Removes detainees from holding areas using proper restraints and security protocols.
Supervises detainees during deportation or exclusion hearings, medical appointments, transportation, and other assigned duties.
Reports for duty on time, in full issued uniform, and compliant with the dress code.
Follows all company safety policies, including incident reporting, monitoring, and adherence to safety practices.
Successfully completes all required training, including defensive tactics and physically demanding coursework.
Performs all duties in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
Makes official entries in the assigned post logbooks that are accurate, legible and complete.
Enforces rules and regulations of the detention facility.
Provides care, custody, and control of detainees.
Receives all authorized equipment and ensures that it is in proper working condition.
Ensures that your communication radio is in good working order with a fully charged battery.
Follows company-wide safety policies and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting, and monitoring as outlined in company safety policies.
Conducts security and sanitation checks of the area prior to relieving the outgoing officer and throughout the shift.
Successfully completes all assigned training including defensive tactics and course requiring a minimum physical stamina.
Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with organization and company policies and procedures.
