About The Position

Inter-Con is searching for motivated dedicated and qualified Contract Detention Officers (CDO) to join our team. The CDO will be responsible for the secure detention and transportation of prisoners while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and compliance with federal guidelines. Maintain order and discipline among inmates, responding to incidents and disturbances when necessary. Escort and transport inmates securely within the facility and to external locations as required, following all safety protocols. Conduct thorough inmate searches and cell inspections to prevent the introduction or possession of contraband. Use handcuffing and restraint techniques in accordance with policy and training standards. Work as part of a team of Correctional Detention Officers (CDOs) to manage and oversee housing units of 10–205 inmates. Complete reports and documentation related to inmate behavior, incidents, and daily activities. Uphold facility regulations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and agency-specific standards for inmate care and detention.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in inmate searches and applying hand restraints is essential.
  • Must be able to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure, especially during high-stress or emergency situations.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, especially in managing large inmate populations with other officers.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must speak, read, and write English fluently
  • Possess a valid U.S. driver's license
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Must be trained and qualified in the use of USMS-approved firearms and less-than-lethal devices
  • Certification or waiver for Hepatitis B and TB skin test
  • Must have an honorable or general discharge if a Veteran
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience handling prisoners
  • Experience must be in one or more of the following roles: Law Enforcement Officer Corrections Officer Detention Officer Military Police Officer
  • Previous CDO experience may be credited toward this requirement
