Reuters is seeking an exceptional United Nations Bureau Chief to report on the U.N. from its New York headquarters. The United Nations and global diplomacy and bilateral and multilateral relations face profound challenges, including a looming funding crisis at the UN and a U.S. president whose foreign policy is accelerating the break-up of the post-World War Two order. The U.N.'s central role in world affairs makes it a rare sourcing opportunity for an ambitious journalist digging in on topics ranging from Ukraine and Gaza to China and North Korea. Reporting to the Washington-based foreign policy editor, the successful candidate for this job will be someone who can develop sources, break news, and develop a body of work that shows how diplomacy – and key bilateral and multilateral relations among countries -- are changing. As our UN Bureau Chief you will: Break news from sources at the UN Generate original, ambitious story ideas for enterprise reporting on the UN and more broadly on global diplomacy and bilateral relations Collaborate closely and work to confirm tips with other members of the foreign policy team and Reuters colleagues around the world Cover the most important events at the U.N. including organizational work around the General Assembly, but focus on original story ideas that set Reuters apart. Deputize on occasion for the Foreign Policy Editor.
