About The Position

Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is shaping the future of care across its three hospitals and eight satellite sites, serving one of Canada’s most vibrant and diverse communities. The Ultrasound Technologist reports to the Manager and is responsible for organizing and performing ultrasound examinations and ultrasound-guided procedures in a team environment. This role involves maintaining and documenting high-quality images and technologist notes, actively participating in strategies to improve operational efficiency, and providing effective communication with clinical teams, patients, and families with a focus on optimal patient-centred care. The successful candidate will work effectively with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals as part of a clinical team and will be required to work at all SHN hospital locations.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an established and accredited ultrasound program
  • Minimum of current 2 years of hospital experience
  • Current membership with CMRITO in good standing with MRT(DMS) credential
  • Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
  • Maintain registry status, in good standing by meeting all professional and college requirements
  • Registration and working knowledge of following specialties: Ultrasound Physics & Instrumentation, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Abdomen and Vascular, Breast imaging
  • Must have venous and arterial doppler and breast imaging experience
  • Breast Ultrasound (diagnostic and screen) experience required, include interpretation of mammogram and breast MRI, knowledge of BIRADS system and breast pathology
  • Demonstrated technical capability in various ultrasound systems (eg. GE and Philips)
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, assess patient capabilities and limitations and make practice adjustments as necessary
  • Computer keyboarding and literacy skills
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public
  • Excellent work performance, punctuality and attendance
  • Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
