About The Position

Atrium Health Providence Emergency Department , a facility of Atrium Health Pineville, provides 24-hour emergency medical services to the South Charlotte area. From broken bones and severe cuts to heart attacks and strokes, we’re prepared to provide patients of all ages the highest level of emergency care. Our expert staff includes doctors who are board-certified in emergency medicine. Plus, we’re backed by the breadth and depth of Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center, home to the region’s only Level I trauma center. Our around-the-clock emergency care includes: Doctors board-certified in emergency medicine and an emergency-trained care team Advanced diagnostic imaging services, including the most up-to-date CT scanner, digital X-ray and ultrasound A full range of laboratory services Treatment rooms, including designated trauma/resuscitation rooms Bedside registration for convenience and privacy Private observation rooms for monitoring On-call medical specialists available for consultation Emergency transportation by ambulance for critically ill or injured patients Direct access to Atrium Health Pineville and the advanced trauma services and resources at Carolinas Medical Center Job Profile Summary: Prioritizes and coordinates ultrasound exams with nursing units, radiologists, and referring physicians. Performs ultrasound exams in accordance to departmental protocols and standards. Provides adequate patient care as it relates to the exam requested. Operates ultrasound and associated equipment with proficiency.

Requirements

  • Certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (S) required.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.
  • Interpersonal skills required.
  • Graduate of a comprehensive medical diagnostic ultrasound program required in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or General Ultrasound.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and demonstrates the skills and competency appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served.
  • Requires strenuous physical effort while assisting patients from wheelchairs and stretchers.
  • Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies up to 600 pounds with assistance.
  • Work requires walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling and lifting during normal operation.
  • Requires mental skills to read and comprehend patient orders and technical materials.
  • Motor coordination needed to operate heavy and delicate equipment.
  • Intact sense of sight and hearing

  • Graduate of a comprehensive medical diagnostic ultrasound program preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient.
  • Assists Radiologist in performing invasive procedures.
  • Evaluates technical quality of exam and develops a superior varied technique for elevated efficiency in the department.
  • Supports and contributes to the Patient-Centered Care Philosophy by understanding that every staff member is a Caregiver, whose role is to meet the needs of each patient.
  • Reports malfunctioning equipment to the Assistant Director, Lead Sonographer and/or Engineer.
  • Operates the Radiology computer system to include entering and charging exams and supplies.
  • Maintains assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Assists in keeping the area completely stocked.
  • Adheres to departmental rules and regulations while performing in a professional manner always.
