About The Position

As an Ultrasound Technologist, you are responsible for performing diagnostic images for medical interpretation through use of multi-frequency sound waves. They will identify normal and abnormal imaging results, communicating a summary of the results to physicians or other health professionals. This position is held accountable for performing the correct US exams and producing high quality diagnostic images, while maintaining proficiency and complying with company policies and procedures. The US technologist will independently perform or assist a licensed practitioner in the completion of diagnostic exams (and invasive procedures if applicable). This role requires a commitment to patient-centered, compassionate care—creating a positive experience by maintaining clear communication, ensuring comfort, and upholding the highest safety standards throughout the imaging process. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: Perform a variety of outpatient ultrasound examinations, including general, abdominal, pelvic, OB/GYN, small parts, and vascular studies (as applicable). Administer high frequency sound waves to a patient to obtain diagnostic exams as ordered by the physician and - consistent with all applicable legal requirements and restrictions- exercise individual thought, judgment and discretion in the performance of the procedure within their scope of practice as defined by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, American Society Radiologic Technologists, and ARDMS. Review patient orders and history to verify appropriate exam selection and ensure accurate documentation. Operate ultrasound equipment and adjust settings to obtain optimal diagnostic images according to established protocols. Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety throughout the imaging process. Maintain levels of quality that meet or exceed customer expectations through process improvement and a team-oriented approach. Demonstrate proficiency of EMR systems, as well as PACS and DICOM systems for image sharing and interpretation. Effectively communicates with customers and/or radiologists. Demonstrates the ability to use all channels of communication to address concerns, solve problems, and address conflict. Knowledge and ability to demonstrate competency of differing US equipment as well as aseptic and sterile technique and requirements for probe cleansing prior to patient use. Maintain confidentiality in matters relating to patients, family and staff in compliance with HIPAA, infection control and safety guidelines. Train and orient new technologists. Complete annual and on-going education and site-specific competencies/in-services as designated by leadership. Participate in continuing education, staff meetings, and quality assurance initiatives. Contribute to a positive and efficient team environment that emphasizes patient satisfaction and operational excellence. Assist with daily workflow, including room preparation, patient scheduling support, and equipment upkeep. Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience
  • ARRT(S) or ARDMS
  • BLS Certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
  • 1-2 years’ experience in Ultrasound.
  • Ability to work at several locations
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
