Ultrasound Technologist Galen Medical Group offers several medical specialties throughout the Chattanooga region. We are seeking qualified, like-minded applicants to join our team! $10,000 Sign-on bonus for qualified full-time Certified Ultrasound Technicians. This role has no on-call responsibilities and does not require working holidays or weekends. Summary/Objective: The Hepatology Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality abdominal ultrasound examinations to support the diagnosis and management of patients under the direction and supervision of the Physician. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • An associate degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or completion of an accredited ultrasound technology program is preferred.
  • ARDMS or ARRT certification required.
  • 1-3 years of previous experience performing abdominal ultrasound in a clinical or hospital setting required.
  • As part of the Galen Medical Group, the applicant must be a team player and provide excellent customer service while assessing our patients needs efficiently.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with Galen Medical policies, HIPAA, and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Explains ultrasound procedures to the patient to obtain cooperation and reduce the patient's anxieties.
  • Performs ultrasonic diagnostic procedures as directed by physicians.
  • Schedules patients and explains procedures to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
  • Positions patients safely and appropriately for imaging.
  • Selects and operates appropriate ultrasonic transducers and image settings.
  • Conducts scanning procedures using ultrasound equipment.
  • Moves the scanner over the specified body area and adjusts the equipment to focus.
  • Produces hard copy or digital images for interpretation.
  • Documents exam findings and technical information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Maintains, cleans, and cares for ultrasound equipment per manufacturer and clinic standards.
  • Reviews preliminary technical findings with the interpreting physician.
  • Calibrates or troubleshoots equipment, as needed.
  • Update the patient’s ultrasound results in the procedure history in the EMR.
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of Galen Medical Group.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Represent the organization in a positive & professional manner.
  • Must adhere to HIPAA guidelines at all times in order to maintain the highest level of patient confidentiality.
  • Comply with all organization policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Assist other personnel in the performance of their duties as assigned and as workload permits.
  • Function as relief for other personnel in the office as appropriate, and to facilitate co-workers’ absence.
  • Participates in clinical educational programs as necessary for job duties.
  • Performs all duties in compliance with Galen clinical policies and OSHA standards.
  • Orders and stocks all ultrasound supplies.
  • Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and in-services as directed.
  • Consistently demonstrate the value of the team concept.
  • Other duties as assigned.
