About The Position

Description Performs medical sonographic imaging and related procedures to assist in diagnosis and treatment of patients. Performs radiographic images, if eligible. Responsibilities Provides direct patient care and evaluates outcome Prepares and positions patient to best demonstrate anatomical area of interest, respecting the patient's ability and comfort Properly determines exposure techniques and factors for radiography if applicable. Maximizes productivity and efficiency within national benchmarks Performs imaging examinations using appropriate protocols established by the medical director. Determines ultrasound frequencies and appropriate transducers for the anatomic area of interest. Ensures that all requested examinations are completed prior to releasing patient. Maintains quality control and quality assurance in the assigned division. Corroborates patient's clinical history and menstrual history with procedure, ensuring that information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner. Participates in quality assessment and improvement plan Performs daily required quality control activities and reports equipment failure, as required Evaluates images for technical quality: assuring proper patient identification, positioning, and all required documentation is recorded Communicates patient/family health care needs to the appropriate health care provider. Provides patient education. Communicates variances and/or significant events to appropriate caregiver in a timely manner Communicates with members of other disciplines to assure efficient quality patient care Participates as a member of the team to achieve business goals, quality outcomes, and customer satisfaction Provides assistance to team members as requested or required Regular and timely attendance is required for this job Participates on committees/councils and performance improvement activities as requested/required Successful completion of probation and annual skills/competency requirements Practices within legal, ethical, and professional boundaries Maintains expertise in the area Serves as a role model by demonstrating positive team based behaviors Shows commitment to personal professional growth through the pursuit of advanced knowledge and skills Safeguards confidential information Performance of duties will be in compliance with all laws and regulations governing healthcare organizations Performs other related duties as assigned or requested Contributes to the daily operations of the department by performing other roles as needed

Requirements

  • Graduate of a formal Ultrasound training program
  • Completion of an accredited ultrasound program.
  • Must have taken and passed the physics portion of the RDMS certification.
  • Then within one (1) year of employment obtain one of the disciplines: OB/GYN, Breast or Abdomen, completing their full certification

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from an AMA Radiologic Technology program
  • Board certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) in Sonography Principles and Instrumentation, and a minimum of one of the following disciplines: OB/GYN, Breast or Abdomen, or Certificate by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in radiology and possess a valid Mississippi state credential
  • One (1) year of ultrasound experience
