About The Position

The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing ultrasound studies following ACR, State, Network, department, and manufacturer’s recommendations and guidelines to create diagnostic quality images. Exams are performed as directed by an MD, DO, PA, or NP while embracing the core values of Quality, Appreciation, Creativity, and Sustainability in pursuing the HHHN Mission and Vision.

Requirements

  • College or university program certificate or two to four years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Current ARDMS/RDMS certification in Abdomen and OB/GYN.
  • A minimum of one year of imaging experience in a hospital or outpatient setting.
  • Current on required continuing education credits.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications and electronic medical records.
  • Knowledge of current ultrasound practices and standards of care.
  • Knowledge of related regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with patients, Network personnel, and outside entities.
  • Self-directed, detail-orientated, motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a team atmosphere.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Select proper technical factors and patient positioning for the creation of diagnostic quality images.
  • Provide proper education for patients to include an explanation of exam and/or preparation requirements.
  • Maintain proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to schedule exams, process orders, initiate billing and distribute imaging results to providers.
  • Process images to PACS and review ultrasound findings with radiologists and OB/GYN providers.
  • Maintain proficiency in Radiology Information System (RIS) and PACS to deliver images to radiologists and permanent archives.
  • Maintain a log of all patients imaged.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly exam room.
  • Prepare patient CDs and/or push images to other PACS systems.
  • Assists in the orientation, instruction, and training of new employees according to department procedures.
  • Maintain a steady and efficient patient workflow, regardless of the demand, and notify providers and nursing when the workflow is backed up.
  • Understand and adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Notify the supervisor immediately of any equipment malfunctions.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in committees/workgroups as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
