Operates diagnostic ultrasound equipment. Obtains high quality diagnostic images. Performs ultrasound procedures at a technical level, not requiring direct supervision. Job Responsibility Under the direction of a qualified physician, performs a variety of ultrasound procedures including routine vascular, abdominal/ visceral, small parts, pelvic/TV, obstetrical, neonatal, portable and operating room procedures according to established department protocols and procedures. Produces high ultrasound imaging in order to obtain diagnostic information. Provides information and explanation to patient in regard to the procedure Presents and communicates pertinent case information and clinical images to radiologist Assists in invasive procedures upon physician’s request. Reviews each examination for technical accuracy. Identifies anatomical orientation on all images. Ensures proper identification of films. Corrects errors, as necessary. Obtains CME credits via journal clubs and other venues. Prepares and cleans room for patient examinations. Assists in the orientation and training of technologists in training.
