About The Position

Nemours is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to join their Nemours Children's Health team in Orlando, Florida. Nemours Children’s Hospital is a 130-bed pediatric hospital with a 24-hour Emergency Department and outpatient clinics, designed by families for families, blending nature with healthcare innovation. The Ultrasound technologist is responsible for the operation and maintenance of ultrasound equipment, performing ultrasound studies to image various organs, and recording images for physician diagnosis. The technologist is also expected to participate in departmental and hospital Quality Assurance and improvement programs. Requirements

  • ARDMS registered or registry eligible with completion of registry within one year of date of employment.
  • Completion of approved Ultrasound Program required beyond high school.
  • ARDMS registration required.
  • Florida State Radiation License required if ARRT certified.
  • AHA BLS CPR certification required.
  • Travel will be required to other locations when needed.

Nice To Haves

  • ARRT registration preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with knowledge, operation and maintenance of all ultrasound related equipment.
  • Perform ultrasound studies to demonstrate various organs of the body.
  • Record images in standard formats for diagnosis by a physician.
  • Participate in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assurance and improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to improve services, make recommendations and implement actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of Nemours.
  • Engage in AIDET interactions and provide accurate preparation instructions to patient/family.
  • Answer pertinent procedural questions.
  • Maintain knowledge of Ultrasound Imaging protocols, Radiation Safety and all radiology equipment.
  • Perform patient identification and proper identification of all images.
  • Interact with PACS and document findings.
  • Operate hospital computer system for patient data entry and retrieval, order entry and completion of study.
  • Provide accurate room preparation and instructions to patient / family according to the procedure.
  • Physically prepare patient for examination, including explaining the imaging procedure.
  • Work well with others and act as a team member.
  • Work independently and engage in critical thinking to improve the quality of care.
  • Maintain work habits consistent with hospital and department policies.
  • Report unsafe conditions and incidents to the immediate supervisor.
  • Demonstrate safe work habits.
  • Aid in the training of new personnel, students and physicians.
  • Ensure proper function of equipment by proper usage and maintenance.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Work a flexible schedule and on an on-call basis.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill to provide care appropriate for infant, child, and adult patients.
  • Communicate effectively, including accepting feedback, asking questions, and active communication with counterparts and all departments.
