About The Position

Located in a tight-knit community in Kings County, Adventist Health Hanford has been serving the Central Valley since 1965. We are comprised of a 173-bed hospital and many outpatient clinics with primary and specialty care services. Hanford residents are proud of their city's historic charm and family-friendly atmosphere. Within an hour's travel time, Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks can be enjoyed. Job Summary: Performs outpatient ultrasonic diagnostic procedures in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by physicians. Produces images of internal body tissues in order to diagnose and monitor a variety of conditions such as heart disease, pregnancy and cancer.

Requirements

  • Certificate or Diploma from approved ultrasound school: Required
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification within one year of hire: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in radiologic technology or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor's): Preferred
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Sonography: Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Uses ultrasound equipment to direct high-frequency sound waves to a prescribed area of the patient’s body and capture quality images that describe the composition, shape and motion of tissues, organs, vessels and pathology.
  • Summarizes, documents, verifies and presents images, findings, calculations and measurements to physicians for diagnoses.
  • Adheres to ultrasonic diagnostic procedures, precautions and standards.
  • Provides direct patient care, including assessing patient condition and ability to cooperate.
  • Positions patients and equipment, prepares patients for procedures and continually monitors and records vital signs.
  • Observes for reactions and signs of impending complications and intervening as needed.
  • Maintains accurate records, files and billing information.
  • Ensures the integrity of patient medical images and data while adhering to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other patient confidentiality guidelines and regulations.
  • Prepares rooms and patients for subsequent ultrasound procedures.
  • Verifies operational status of equipment prior to daily utilization.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
