The primary purpose of the Ultrasound Technologist is to provide health care services for inpatients and outpatients of the University Hospital/DOC through the applications of non-ionizing radiation (sound waves to create images). The technologist performs general, OB/GYN, small parts, and vascular ultrasound procedures for the interpretation of a licensed practitioner. The patient population ranges from newborn to maturity. The technologist must exercise professional judgment throughout the performance of his/her duties and maintain a demeanor that supports the values and mission of the department, ensuring that all interaction with patients, physicians, nurses, administrators, and other members of the hospital staff are professional and in accordance with the established guidelines of the institution.
