About The Position

The position is for a part-time Medical Sonographer at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, requiring two 10-hour shifts on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 AM to 5:30 PM. The role involves performing a comprehensive array of sophisticated non-invasive ultrasound procedures, ensuring accurate imaging for diagnostic purposes, and maintaining a safe patient environment. The sonographer will also be responsible for documenting patient history, communicating reports to physicians, and ensuring compliance with procedural standards. The job includes technical support for the Ultrasound Department, scheduling exams, and staying updated with the latest ultrasound developments.

Requirements

  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by ARDMS within 3 months.
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by ARDMS within 3 months.
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by ARDMS within 3 months.
  • Vascular Sonography (VS) registration issued by ARRT within 3 months.
  • Vascular Specialist (RVS) registration issued by CCI within 3 months.
  • Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by ARDMS within 18 months.
  • Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration issued by CCI within 18 months.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by AHA within 6 months.
  • Graduate of AMA approved School of Ultrasound.
  • Registered or Registry Eligible.

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent skills in performing abdomen, some OB/GYNE, some vascular and Small Parts ultrasound exams.
  • Excellent knowledge in pathology related to ultrasound.

Responsibilities

  • Independently provides complete and accurate images for diagnostic purposes.
  • Documents patient history.
  • Communicates 'Wet Read' reports to physician offices.
  • Records patient medical information.
  • Explains test procedures to patients.
  • Ensures a secure and safe patient and work environment by maintaining awareness of safety hazards.
  • Complies with procedural standards in patient care.
  • Assists with proper positioning of patients as necessary.
  • Cleans, prepares, and sanitizes all transducers according to manufacturer recommendations.
  • Applies sterile techniques and prevents cross-contamination.
  • Maintains adequate supplies for the Ultrasound Department.
  • Provides encounter forms for completed procedures ready for billing.
  • Communicates with other departments to schedule various exams.
  • Interacts closely with the site Manager for smooth daily operations.
  • Attends department meetings and in-services.
  • Helps answer telephones and schedule patients as needed.
  • Stays abreast of the latest ultrasound developments.
  • Obtains membership in local, state, or national societies.
  • Attends continuing education seminars.
  • Maintains professional accreditation.
  • Participates in CQI projects.
