This position includes:

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Responsible for performing sonographic procedures to assist in the diagnosis of disease.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Graduation from an ultrasound school.
• Registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or registry eligible, in appropriate specialties.
• Current CPR certification.
• Minimum one or more years experience as a Sonographer and/or training with graduate Sonographer.
• Knowledge of ultrasound exam policies and protocols.
• Knowledge of operating ultrasound equipment and accessing applicable programs.
• Knowledge of anatomy.
• Knowledge of ultrasound physics.
• Skill in production of sonograms meeting physician expectations.
• Ability to effectively care for patients.
• Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with interdepartmental personnel.
• Application of principals of ultrasound scanning, physics, and body habitus.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the safety and mental and physical comfort of the patient while in the Sonographer’s care.
• Correlates the clinical history with the diagnostic study to be performed.
• Prepare patients for examinations and explains the procedures to patients while performing studies.
• Performs routine ultrasound procedures demonstrating anatomy under investigation through appropriate use of equipment and patient positioning. Assist physicians in proper interpretation of exam.
• Keeps up-to-date in the field of diagnostic medical sonography by reading and attending meetings, conferences, and symposia.
• Assists in technical training of students and staff.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
