Wentworth Health Partners, an affiliate of Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and a member of Mass General Brigham Medical Group, offers comprehensive, personalized care for women in Dover and Portsmouth, NH, specializing in Obstetrics, Gynecology, Urogynecology, Infertility, and LGBTQ+ care. This position is for a part-time, 27-hour Sonographer to support imaging services primarily at 15 Old Rollinsford Road, Dover, NH, with occasional coverage at 67 Corporate Drive, Portsmouth, NH. The role involves three 9-hour days (7:00 am–5:00 pm, including a 1-hour lunch) with a typical patient load of 12 per day. The Sonographer will work independently as the sole sonographer on site, maintaining workflow and ensuring high-quality patient care, and may be asked to float to other departments within the WHP system for cross-coverage during staffing shortages or other extenuating circumstances.

Requirements

  • Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma as Diagnostic Medical Sonographer or Other Certificate/Diploma Diagnostic Imaging required
  • 0-1 year of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
  • Comprehensive understanding of computer operations relating to Imaging, Electronic Health Records, Reporting Systems, PACS, and all Hospital Information Systems that integrate with the Department of Radiology, relating to patient information and management
  • Analytical abilities necessary to effectively utilize advanced knowledge of imaging processes, techniques, procedures, and anatomy
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to the operational needs and presents as a positive representative of the Department of Radiology
  • Excellent attention to detail, written, and communication skills; must be able to read and write in English
  • Use independent judgment and initiative under pressure in a variety of situations
  • Maintain effective working relations and communication with colleagues and patients
  • Comfort working independently

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in Diagnostic Imaging
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
  • Sonography [R.T.(S)(ARRT)] - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • OB/GYN experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality patient care while producing ultrasound images and patterns used for patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Complete scans effectively and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of patient care possible to provide the most remarkable patient experience.
  • Maintain workflow and ensure high-quality patient care as the sole sonographer on site.
  • Work independently as the primary imaging resource during shifts.
  • Confirm patient identity using two identifiers (full name and DOB).
  • Review exam orders and clinical history.
  • Prepare and clean equipment and rooms; restock supplies as needed.
  • Clearly explain procedures, considering patient comfort and confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure efficient workflow and scanner use.
  • Provide care within the scope of training and licensure.
  • Participate in on-call, holiday, and flexible shift coverage as needed.
  • Perform ultrasound exams and assist with training staff and students.
  • Operate equipment and follow protocols.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
  • Support and participate in departmental research, QA, and improvement projects.
  • Conduct research-related ultrasound exams as required.
  • Float to other departments in the WHP system when appropriate and needed during times of staffing shortages/other extenuating circumstances for cross-coverage purposes and to ensure adequate coverage and support.
