Works in a hospital facility that offers full hospital services. Provides direct patient care to high acuity patients encompassing emergency, inpatient and outpatient classes supporting up to and including trauma and ICU.

Requirements

  • Technical School Diploma of approved CAHEA School of Diagnostic Ultrasound.
  • 2 years Experience performing imaging examinations using established protocols.
  • Knowledge acquired through completion of occupationally specific education.
  • RDMS - Reg Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
  • ARDMS - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Upon Hire
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Within 90 Days

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the education and training of new employees, students, and other ancillary personnel.
  • Assists physicians in the performance of specialized procedures.
  • Ensures mandatory hospital programs are completed on time.
  • Documents accurate history, signs and symptoms, preliminary findings, and contact information.
  • Ensures coordination of daily work duties within the team; coordinates timing of exams within department guidelines.
  • Ensures floors are called and patients are scheduled appropriately.
  • Produces images of optimal quality using sound judgment and deviating from normal techniques to optimally visualize the principle area of interest
  • Provides proper patient care, comfort, and understanding at all times.
