About The Position

The Ultrasound Technologist I position at Houston Methodist is responsible for performing a variety of routine diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including common and special exams of moderate complexity. Requirements

• Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for required credentials.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in OB/GYN, Abdomen, or Breast, or Radiologic Technologist in Sonography (ARRT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures including common and special ultrasound exams.
• Assists physicians during diagnostic or special procedures, ensuring sterile technique is maintained.
• Communicates effectively with patients and family members, providing clear explanations and instructions.
• Follows safety standards and conducts imaging procedures in compliance with hospital policies.
• Reports near misses and inputs errors into the patient safety reporting system.
• Performs daily imaging equipment quality control to ensure safe working order before use.
• Utilizes critical thinking skills to address patient reactions and potential outcomes.
