The position involves performing clinical diagnostic ultrasound procedures as ordered by physicians. The ultrasound technician is responsible for positioning patients appropriately, selecting the correct transducer, and adjusting technical factors based on the depth of field or organ being scanned. The technician must obtain adequate images and label them appropriately. Additionally, the role includes scheduling patients, explaining procedures to ensure cooperation and optimal test results, and rescheduling patients as necessary. The technician will also perform biopsy and interventional procedures competently and independently, maintaining ultrasound services in accordance with the guidelines established by the Radiology Department. Diagnostic ultrasound examinations must be performed according to pre-determined protocols set forth by the radiologists. The technician is responsible for the proper utilization of existing equipment, reporting repair problems promptly, maintaining proper records, and ensuring an adequate level of films and supplies. Participation in Radiology services Process Improvement, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and compliance with regulatory agency requirements is also expected. The technician must demonstrate knowledge of clinical information and practices essential for providing age-specific care from neonates to geriatrics.
