About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment by the attending physician. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Education: Graduate of accredited imaging based school. Certification required:  Current BLS certification required. Certification preferred: ARDMS - American Registered Diagnostic Sonographer Registered or completed within 6 months of eligibility. OR ARRT - American Registry Radiologic Technologist with certification in sonography RT (R) (S). Minimum Work Experience: Ability to communicate with employees, physicians, patients and administrative staff in a courteous and professional manner. POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Patient Care Review medical records for patient history and supporting clinical data. Explain procedure to patient; provide patient care, support, comfort, safety and confidentiality. Select equipment and imaging modalities, position and prep, to facilitate optimum diagnostic studies. Ultrasound Perform all ultrasound techniques and examinations offered at this facility. Display a broad knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and pathology to obtain optin1al studies. Select and record preliminary study results on work sheet. Make pertinent measurements and label. Direct study to Radiologist for interpretation. Consult with Radiologist about unusual scans and assist with interpretation. Provide written unofficial reports and worksheets of examination. Assist physician in such procedures as needle biopsies, amniocentesis, thoracentesis and other invasive procedures as needed, maintaining sterile technique.  Maintain ultrasonography equipment. Recognize malfunctions and need for servicing. Ensure quality control procedures are maintained. Order department supplies.
