About The Position

The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures using ultrasound equipment to capture high-quality images of internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. The role involves interacting with patients, operating ultrasound machines, and ensuring accurate and clear imaging for diagnostic purposes. The Ultrasound Tech follows safety protocols, maintains equipment, and collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Ultrasound Technology, or a related field.
  • Certification: ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification in relevant specialties (e.g., ABD, OB/GYN, RVT) required. State licensure where applicable.
  • BLS/CPR Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform Ultrasound Scans: Operate ultrasound equipment to perform imaging procedures, including abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, and vascular studies, as ordered by a physician.
  • Patient Preparation: Prepare and position patients for ultrasound exams, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety during the imaging process.
  • Image Acquisition and Analysis: Capture and review images for quality and diagnostic accuracy, making adjustments as needed to obtain the best possible results.
  • Documentation: Document patient information, imaging procedures performed, and relevant clinical details in the patient’s medical record.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of ultrasound equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reporting any malfunctions or needed repairs.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols to protect patients and staff from unnecessary exposure to ultrasound and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnostic information and coordinate patient care.
  • Patient Care: Provide compassionate and professional care, addressing patient concerns and ensuring a positive experience throughout the imaging process.
