About The Position

Under the general direction of the Radiology Director, performs all ultrasound examinations in the care and services of patients in an acute care facility. Performs other related work as required.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent supplemented by completion of a recognized 18-month ultrasound program.
  • A minimum of six months clinical experience while training is required.
  • BLS certification
  • ARDMS certification required
  • Knowledge of cross sectional anatomy
  • Knowledge of hospital established policies quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the more common ultrasound equipment and instruments used in a hospital setting.
  • Ability to apply aseptic and sterile techniques.
  • Ability to learn quickly the specific operations of a Radiology Department.
  • Ability to apply principles of medical sonography in the imaging and interpretation of patient examinations.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, physicians and fellow employees.
  • Ability to work effectively under stress and in emergency situations.
  • Ability to maintain records.
  • Ability to manage emergency or crisis situations; requires judgment/action which could result in undesirable patient outcomes.
  • Ability to maintain, demonstrates and is assessed on the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for physical, psychosocial and cultural needs appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
