About The Position

Reporting to and functioning under the general supervision of the Supervisor, the Ultrasound Technologist prepares for and operates ultrasound equipment following specific physicians orders. Produces detailed computer generated scans of patients for imaging of the breast, verifies patients identification prior to scan, selects patient from work list, ensures exam is archived on the PACS. Maintains facilities in proper order. Must keep abreast of all new departmental imaging. To perform a variety of ultrasound, color Doppler exams, and assists the radiologist with various invasive procedures.

Requirements

  • Completion from an accredited ultrasound program
  • ARDMS registered, or registry eligible
  • Breast certification
  • Must obtain registry within one (1) year of employment (if registry eligible)
  • Position's physical requirements necessitate a full range of body motion including but not limited to, physically assisting patients, requiring stretching, bending, lifting, sitting, kneeling, stooping, standing, walking, pushing and pulling
  • Physical dexterity to operate sensitive ultrasound equipment and to be able to perform a variety of ultrasound exams on patients
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and vascular systems
  • Ability to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects (Very Heavy Work)
  • Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Constant talking and listening in English
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills, including speech clarity, understanding the information relayed, deductive and inductive reasoning skills
  • Considerable walking, standing, sitting, reaching, filing, typing and photocopying
  • Ability to perform work accurately and pay attention to details, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure
  • Ability to function competently in stressful situations and changing work environment related to changing needs of patients with acute, chronic and complex and/or terminal disease processes
  • Ability to work cooperatively within health system, multidisciplinary team members (i.e. MD's, Rehab, Respiratory, DI, Laboratory, etc)
  • Ability to utilize effective time management skills

  • One to two year's experience as an ultrasound technologist
