About The Position

The Ultrasound Technologist, under the general supervision of an attending radiologist and in accordance with department protocols, utilizes high frequency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques to produce and evaluate ultrasound images and related data which is used by physicians in rendering a medical diagnosis, resulting in quality patient care. This position may support General Ultrasound procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree; graduate from an accredited two-year Ultrasound Program, required; OR equivalent training acquired via work experience.
  • Specific Degree(s): AMA approved Sonography program; Graduate of a CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) approved school of Ultrasound Technology.
  • Less than one year of previous job-related experience.
  • New Graduates must have 9-month ultrasound coursework experience including clinical rotation.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Licensure/Certifications Required: CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) from American Heart Association ONLY.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - Specialization in Abdomen, Ob/Gyn or PS.

Nice To Haves

  • Registration within 3 months of hire, in a minimum of one to two specialties of either Abdomen and/or Obstetrics & Gynecology required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and demonstrates competence in ultrasonic scanning procedures by producing, assessing and evaluating ultrasound images and related data that are used by physicians to render a medical diagnosis.
  • Recognizes, identifies and appropriately documents normal anatomy, abnormalities, disease, pathology and pathophysiology for accurate medical diagnosis.
  • Performs all types of ultrasound procedures and services, in accordance with department protocol, to ensure appropriate patient care for patients in all age categories (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
  • Completes ultrasonic scans within given procedure time parameters to expedite patient care.
