About The Position

Performs basic diagnostic ultrasound examinations as prescribed by the physician and documents findings. Assists physicians with invasive procedures as needed. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in related field.
  • CRT-Sonographer (S) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire required.
  • CRT-Abdomen (AB) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Excluding Vascular Sites Upon Hire required.
  • CRT-Ob/Gyn (OB) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Excluding Vascular Sites Upon Hire required.
  • CRT-Vascular Technologist (VT) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Vascular Sites Upon Hire required.
  • CRT-Breast (BR) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Breast Center Sites Excluding Regionals not performing Breast Imaging Upon Hire required.
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required.
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in ultrasound.
  • CRT-Pediatric Sonographer (PS) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography HDVCH Sites Upon Hire preferred.
  • CRT-Musculoskeletal (MSK) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography MSK Sites Upon Hire preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains a complete and comprehensive patient history.
  • Operates ultrasound equipment competently to provide quality diagnostic studies that meet the requirements of established ultrasound protocols.
  • Performs various diagnostic ultrasound examinations as prescribed by the referring physician and/or radiologists.
  • Documents quality images, including pathology noted during real time scanning.
  • Assists physicians during invasive procedures as necessary.
  • Maintains a clean work environment and stocks rooms with supplies as needed.
  • Contacts service personnel and notifies management of malfunctioning equipment.
  • Supports objectives set by lead ultrasonographer, imaging specialist, supervisor and/or manager.
  • Assists imaging specialist/manager in credentialing and competencies set forth by Spectrum Health and various regulatory agencies.
  • Demonstrates auditory capability to hear tone and pitch fluctuations associated with Doppler, vascular and cardiac studies.
  • Demonstrates visual acuity associated with vascular doppler and flow studies.
  • Exercises judgment within established parameters while following established protocols.
  • Works under minimal supervision/instruction and may serve as technical specialist/trainer and mentor to less experienced staff.
