About The Position

The Ultrasound Tech operates ultrasonic diagnostic equipment to examine various parts of the body, focusing on a wide variety of conditions such as monitoring the health of unborn babies and screening for cancer. This role involves maintaining patient records, managing inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring the proper functioning of equipment. The technician performs clinical diagnostic ultrasound procedures as ordered by physicians, schedules patients, and explains procedures to ensure cooperation and optimal test results.

Requirements

• RDCS Sonography certification required.
• ARRT (S) Certification required.
• Minimum of 1-3 years of previous experience in ultrasound technology required.
• American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography certification (ARDMS) in Abdomen & O.B. required.
• Technologist must possess RVS, RVT or VS, Breast certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate ultrasonic diagnostic equipment to examine various parts of the body.
• Maintain patient records and manage inventory of supplies.
• Order necessary supplies and maintain equipment in proper working order.
• Perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound procedures as ordered by physicians.
• Position patients appropriately and select the correct transducer for procedures.
• Adjust technical factors based on the depth of field or organ being scanned.
• Obtain adequate images and label them appropriately.
• Schedule patients and explain procedures to ensure cooperation and optimal test results.
• Maintain ultrasound service in accordance with Radiology Department guidelines.
• Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities as required.
• Conform to all mandated and voluntary programs to comply with regulatory agency requirements.
