About The Position

We are currently hiring an Ultrasound Technician to join our Radiology Department at El Nuevo San Juan in the Bronx. The Ultrasound Technician performs ultrasound exams, provides technical assistance to the provider and operates/maintains equipment. The U/S Tech preps patients and ensures that policies and procedures established by the department and Urban Health Plan are maintained. Operates ultrasound equipment to produce and record quality images. Performs sonography examinations to observe areas of concern (including but not limited to pelvic, thyroid, kidney, liver, pancreas, OB). Prepares patient for examination by explaining the procedure in easy-to-understand terms based on professional knowledge to relieve patient of any pretesting anxiety. Obtains pertinent and relative patient history and information prior to preforming exam. Maintains patient records and adds analytical notes to images/videos captured. Manages appointment schedules and ensures timely reporting of results to referring providers. Reports on medical staff on any abnormalities that may require immediate attention.

Requirements

  • ARDMS registration required (RDMS in Abdomen or OBGYN) with related experience
  • Graduate of two-year ultrasound program
  • 2 years of independent general sonography experience beyond internships.
  • Skilled in use of computers and electronic health record software.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of PACS a plus
  • Bilingual English/Spanish, strongly preferred.
