About The Position

MacNeal Hospital, located in the western suburbs and approximately 35 minutes from downtown Chicago, is seeking a full-time Ultrasound Technologist. The hospital is part of Loyola Medicine, which is dedicated to treating the whole person with compassion. The Ultrasound Technologist will work under the general supervision of an attending radiologist and will utilize high-frequency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques to produce and evaluate ultrasound images and related data used by physicians for medical diagnosis. The position requires working evening shifts from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree; graduate from an accredited two-year Ultrasound Program, required; OR equivalent training acquired via work experience.
  • Specific Degree(s): AMA approved Sonography program; Graduate of a CAAHEP approved school of Ultrasound Technology.
  • Less than one year of previous job-related experience.
  • New Graduates must have 9-month ultrasound coursework experience including clinical rotation.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Licensure/Certifications Required: CPR from American Heart Association ONLY.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with specialization in Abdomen, Ob/Gyn or PS.

Nice To Haves

  • Registration within 3 months of hire in a minimum of one to two specialties of either Abdomen and/or Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and demonstrate competence in ultrasonic scanning procedures by producing, assessing, and evaluating ultrasound images and related data.
  • Recognize, identify, and appropriately document normal anatomy, abnormalities, disease, pathology, and pathophysiology for accurate medical diagnosis.
  • Perform all types of ultrasound procedures and services in accordance with department protocol to ensure appropriate patient care for patients in all age categories.
  • Complete ultrasonic scans within given procedure time parameters to expedite patient care.
