About The Position

Analog Devices (NASDAQ: ADI) designs and manufactures state-of-the-art semiconductor products and solutions. Our team is pioneering next-generation handheld diagnostics and has an opening for a talented and experienced ultrasound systems engineer, with deep expertise in ultrasound transducer front-end design, beamforming architectures, and acoustic system integration. The ideal candidate has significant experience designing ultrasound probes or NDT phased-array systems, from transducer selection and matching layer design to TX/RX electronics, T/R protection, and downstream signal acquisition. Prior experience with medical imaging devices, point-of-care ultrasound, or industrial NDT phased array systems is highly preferred. The candidate will contribute across multiple development efforts, including handheld ultrasound systems and novel AI-enabled imaging platforms heading toward commercialization. You will be a key member of a small, fast-moving team with high visibility and direct access to leadership. The ideal candidate thrives in an innovative environment and is motivated by solving challenging, end-to-end system problems.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
  • 6+ years of experience designing ultrasound or phased-array systems - medical imaging or NDT, with commercial deployment
  • Proven hands-on experience with at least one of the following: Ultrasound transducer design, piezo/CMUT/PMUT integration, or acoustic stack development TX/RX analog front-end design, including pulsers, T/R switches, LNA/VGA chains, ADC selection, and impedance matching Beamforming architectures - analog, digital, or hybrid
  • Ability to prototype and debug hardware at the bench, working from schematic to first echo
  • Experience with ultrasound measurement techniques - phantom testing, axial/lateral resolution evaluation, acoustic output characterization
  • Self-starter who can independently define architecture direction while working closely with electrical, mechanical, and software teammates
  • Strong documentation discipline and ability to support design verification / regulatory test requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with handheld ultrasound systems and/or POCUS platforms
  • Familiarity with FDA 510(k) ultrasound regulatory guidance, IEC 60601 acoustic safety, and MI/TI reporting
  • Experience interfacing with DSP or mobile app developers for beamforming and display pipelines
  • Exposure to AI/ML-assisted imaging or Doppler/power/color flow analysis
