About The Position

The position involves performing ultrasound studies, including OB, breast, abdomen, pelvic, and vascular studies. The role requires maintaining all ultrasound equipment and ensuring quality control concerning ultrasound. The new equipment to be used is the Canon Aplio i700, and the position is part of a team of three full-time sonographers. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, and there is a sign-on bonus of $10,000 for eligible new hires.

Requirements

  • Education: RDMS Certified
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in ultrasound preferred
  • License(s)/Certification(s): Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire.
  • Current Valid Driver’s License and car insurance may be required when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Nice To Haves

  • Education: RVT preferred
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in ultrasound preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations.

  • Demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents, and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.
  • Communicates effectively with physicians, patients, families, nursing staff, and other Health System personnel.
  • Completes 30 CMEs every 3 years to maintain certification plus any extra CMEs to maintain lab accreditation.
  • Promotes a positive image of the department to the patients and families who use GRMC as a healthcare source.
  • Performs a variety of exams including abdomen, OB/GYN, vascular, and breast/small parts.
  • Assists with invasive procedures in the department and OR (biopsies, etc.).
  • Assists with scheduling biopsies and monitoring schedule to stay efficient throughout the workday.
  • Exerts independent judgment and is responsible for the ultrasonography quality in the performance of these exams.
  • Maintains responsibility for ultrasound/vascular equipment, supplies, and records.
  • Participates in on-call duties as assigned.
  • Must travel in less than desirable weather and road conditions to rural hospital locations.
  • May be assigned a specific mission to address in an emergency situation to assist in disaster response and recovery as part of the UPH-GRMC Hospital Emergency Incident Command System.
  • Performs functions other than described due to extenuating circumstances.
