About The Position

The Ultrasound Sonographer at JPS Health Network is responsible for performing ultrasound procedures on patients to assist in diagnosis and treatment. This role requires technical expertise in sonography, patient interaction, and adherence to safety protocols, ensuring high-quality imaging and patient care.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Sonography or a related field from a CAAHEP accredited Ultrasound school.
  • Current Registration with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) in Ultrasound within the first 12 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) by the first day of employment.
  • Graduate of a JCERT approved school of Radiologic Sciences Program.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ultrasound procedures as ordered to obtain diagnostic images according to department protocols.
  • Screen and interview patients using designated clinical assessment forms to gather necessary information.
  • Position and immobilize patients on the exam table, using appropriate probes and equipment for the exam.
  • Observe patients during scans, monitor their condition, and adjust equipment to improve image quality.
  • Review, manipulate, and evaluate images to ensure satisfactory diagnostic quality and audible sounds.
  • Organize and accurately perform individual steps in sonographic procedures in the correct sequence.
  • Utilize Picture Archival Computer System (PACS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and other relevant software.
  • Perform and document quality control on equipment according to manufacturer guidelines or department protocols.
  • Report equipment problems and failures to Bio-Med and Manager.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment, ensuring proper operation of imaging equipment through preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Apply radiation safety principles to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, making decisions while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Engage in equitable distribution of departmental workloads.
