At NorthBay Health the Ultrasonographer coordinates daily patient schedule with support staff. Performs ultrasound exams and ensures correct processing of images. Ensures proper equipment maintenance and cleanliness. Assists support staff when available. Maintains ARDMS registry through seminars and in-services. Promotes a cooperative and positive relationship and work environment with fellow technologists, support staff, radiologists and referring physicians/staff. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES Performs ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols. Reviews ultrasound requisitions for completeness and validity of examinations being requested. Assists and instructs patients prior to and during examinations. Responsible for evaluating each study to ensure it meets required quality standards. Responsible for patient confidentiality, safety and well-being during examinations. Responsible for inspecting and cleaning equipment prior to and after each patient. Reports all equipment failures and/or malfunctions to the Diagnostic Imaging outpatient supervisor. Reports all patient complaints and discrepancies to the Diagnostic Imaging outpatient supervisor. Responsible for organizing and scanning paperwork into the Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) and completing examination charges through the Radiology Information System (RIS).
