About The Position

The Ultrasonographer performs diagnostic ultrasound exams in accordance with ARDMS standards and ethics, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety standards while prioritizing patient and physician needs. This per diem role requires effective patient interaction and integration of scientific knowledge with technical skills to provide quality patient care and useful diagnostic information.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an Accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound program required.
  • ARDMS registry eligible or Abdomen & OB/GYN preferred.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Ability to perform a variety of examinations pertaining to the Abdomen and Pelvis.
  • Demonstrate understanding of human anatomy, physics, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to recognize urgent/emergent findings.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and good organization skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Breast, Vascular, MSK, NT and pediatrics registries a plus/preferred.
  • Demonstrates sincere interest in every patient and their well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for ultrasound exams with thorough explanations and clear instructions.
  • Obtains thorough patient history related to the exam to be completed.
  • Reviews patient's chart and physician's request to determine optimal scanning parameters.
  • Verifies patient consent and understanding of the procedure's risks, benefits, and alternatives.
  • Accurately implements orders from the referring physician.
  • Performs examinations of the Abdomen, Pelvis, OB, Small Parts & Vascular structures with accuracy.
  • Presents ultrasound examinations to the Radiologist in a professional manner.
  • Assists patients to the scanning table and positions them appropriately for the exam.
  • Utilizes appropriate ultrasound devices and transducers according to the procedure being performed.
  • Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination.
  • Follows and documents scan protocol and Radiologist prescriptions without error.
  • Evaluates images for technical quality and assures proper identification is recorded.
  • Prepares informed consent for interventional procedures and assists the Radiologist as needed.
  • Practices aseptic techniques as necessary.
  • Completes all documentation and maintains patient files without omissions.
  • Reports and documents any negative effects experienced by the patient.
  • Completes Modality Worksheet with accurate information for the Radiologist.
  • Maintains high standards regarding the accurate recording of patient information.
  • Utilizes accurate written and oral communications with patients and staff.
  • Maintains a neat and stocked work area and participates in training for personnel.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all center and patient information as required by HIPAA guidelines.
