About The Position

Perform a variety of specialized technical tasks utilizing high frequency ultrasound waves to assist with the detection of anatomical abnormalities.Perform ultrasounds and all essential duties listed on the job description. ARDMS certification in physics plus one modality, and two specialty areas (abdomen, cardiac, maternal fetal medicine, nuchal translucency, vascular, or OBGYN).

Requirements

  • Formalized Training in Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medical Technology, or Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Amer Reg Diag Med Sonographers (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (Required) Within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Perform all the duties and responsibilities of Level II.
  • Perform a variety of complex specialized tasks utilizing ultrasonic high frequency sound waves to detect abnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones.
  • Assist physicians with biopsy procedures, guiding biopsy instrument using sonographic techniques. Perform ultrasound procedures, doppler vascular examinations, abdominal studies and color-flow ultrasound, OBGYN procedures as required.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, explain procedures to patients. Report changes in patient condition to medical staff. Provide an oral and written summary of preliminary findings to the radiologist.
  • Evaluate quality of sonograms. Determine if additional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated. Maintain patient records in division.
  • Charge procedures and supplies.
  • Archive and de-archive ultrasound data.
  • Orient new ultrasonographers; provide education and training to new sonographers.
  • Coordinate scheduling and patient flow.
  • Collaborate in quality control of equipment and filming and obtains service as required. Proficient in the performance of ultrasound procedures. Provide direction and instruction to existing personnel and training to new sonographers.
  • Assist in teaching of ultrasound technology to new physicians, residents, and fellows.
  • Assist the medical staff in development of new ultrasound techniques and protocols.
  • Participate in ultrasound research practices within radiology and with other hospital disciplines (medicine, surgery departments).
  • Act in a team leader or leadership capacity on an as needed basis.
  • Ensure correct charging of ultrasound procedures and supplies on a daily basis.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.
