About The Position

The primary role of the Ultrasonic Level 1 is to process parts, document results and perform equipment standardization in accordance with approved work instructions. The Level 1 must have the skills and knowledge to follow work instructions and conduct system performance checks in accordance with applicable process standards. The Level 1 shall also be able to prepare parts before and after inspection as applicable. The Level 1 must receive guidance and supervision from certified Level 2 or Level 3 personnel when necessary. The position requires qualification and certification to NAS410 Level I in Ultrasonic per Weber Metals written practice, QWI-6.2-1. Note: This is an interim position working under the direct supervision of a UT Level 2 or Level 3. The individual will remain a trainee until certified to Level 1 at Weber Metals, per NAS 410

Requirements

  • Must meet the requirements and be certified to NAS 410 as an NDT Ultrasonic Level I: o 40 hours minimum formal training hours o 200 minimum on-the-job-training hours o Capable of passing General, Specific and Practical NDT Ultrasonic Level I tests for certification
  • Must be able to comply with ITAR and EAR residency requirements
  • Physical requirements (be able to lift 50 lbs. bend, climb, etc.)
  • Able to follow work instructions
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office and ERP systems
  • Knowledgeable and aware of Quality System requirements, including policies, procedures, work instructions, and the Weber Metals Quality Policy
  • Must complete and pass annual technical reviews for certification
  • Proficient and knowledgeable in the ERP system (job tracker, job manager, specifications, routing, tests, process routings for forgings)
  • High-school diploma or GED Or 2 years equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Process parts, document the results and perform equipment standardization; includes: Ultrasonic, Visual Inspection
  • Carry out any necessary preparation of parts before and after inspection in accordance with approved work instructions
  • Conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard
  • Create Ultrasonic Inspection Reports and DR forms which include photos, classification, location, size and disposition of indications/defects; attach photos and Ultrasonic Inspection Reports to DR module
  • Receive guidance and supervision from a certified Level 2 or Level 3 in that method when necessary
  • Move and stage parts as applicable
  • Communicate effectively to management and staff; assist in communicating and resolving internal and external customer related issues
  • Work in conjunction with UT inspectors to help meet commitments and established deadlines for assigned responsibilities, work schedule, appointments, and meetings
  • Follow established 6s/Lean/TOC activities and have a teamwork attitude
  • Follow the appropriate protocols to make appropriate decisions based on analysis, sound judgment, and available information
  • Knowledgeable and aware of Quality System requirements, including policies, procedures, work instructions, and the Weber Metals Safety Policy
  • Provide timely response to department needs, staff and management issues, as well as request for input from other departments
  • Be supportive of safety programs, wear appropriate personal protective equipment, and comply with the Weber Metals Safety Policy
  • Able to work in different shifts
  • Other duties as assigned
