About The Position

FROM CARGO HOLD TO TAKEOFF – BE THE TECH THAT MAKES IT HAPPEN. The ULD Repair Technician inspects, maintains, and repairs Unit Load Devices (ULDs) used for airport cargo transport which plays a vital role in maintaining safe and efficient cargo operations. WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK AS A ULD REPAIR TECHNICIAN Inspect and assess ULDs for damage: Conduct thorough examinations to identify repair needs Repair damaged ULDs: Use tools and equipment to fix issues such as dents, breaks, and malfunctioning parts Weld and fabricate parts as needed: Apply welding and metalworking skills to reinforce or replace ULD components Perform routine maintenance on ULDs: Carry out scheduled tasks to keep ULDs in safe, working condition Ensure compliance with safety regulations: Follow strict safety protocols and standards during all repair activities Document repairs and maintenance activities: Maintain accurate records for tracking and regulatory purposes Collaborate with logistics teams: Coordinate with operations staff to prioritize repairs and ensure cargo readiness Exemplify PrimeFlight customer service and safety standards Perform any additional duties as assigned by management SUMMARY OVERVIEW The Unit Load Device (ULD) Repair Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of ULDs used for cargo transportation at the airport. This role involves routine inspections to identify damage or wear on ULDs, performing necessary repairs, and ensuring that ULDs comply with aviation regulations and safety standards. You will use specialized tools and equipment to repair ULDs, including welding, riveting, and replacement of components. Additionally, this position requires documenting repair activities, conducting load tests on ULDs, and coordinating with cargo handlers to ensure the availability of serviceable ULDs for cargo loading. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity and safety of cargo transportation at the airport.

Requirements

18 years of age or older
Eligible to work in the United States
Must have a valid state-issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Previous experience in ULD repair or similar aircraft maintenance roles
Knowledge of ULD types, construction, and repair methods
Proficiency in using tools and equipment for ULD repairs
Attention to detail and commitment to safety
Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use of electronic devices including IPads/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices
Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means
Pass a background check and drug screen
Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)
Airlines are 24/7, so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

Inspect and assess ULDs for damage: Conduct thorough examinations of unit load devices to identify repair needs

Weld and fabricate parts as needed: Apply welding and metalworking skills to repair and reinforce ULD structures
Follow technical manuals and repair guidelines: Adhere to manufacturer specifications and industry standards in repair processes
Maintain inventory of parts and supplies for ULD repair: Keep track of necessary materials and reorder as needed
Ensure compliance with safety regulations: Uphold safety protocols to prevent accidents during repair work
Document repairs and maintenance activities: Keep accurate records of all ULD servicing for tracking and regulatory purposes
Collaborate with logistics teams: Work closely with operations staff to prioritize ULD repair based on operational needs
Update skills and knowledge regularly: Stay informed about new repair techniques and equipment for ULDs
Provide input on ULD handling and storage: Suggest improvements to prolong the life and functionality of ULDs
Operate machinery and tools safely: Use equipment such as forklifts and hand tools proficiently and safely
Respond to urgent repair requests: Be available to address critical repair needs promptly to minimize operational disruptions
Participate in team meetings and training sessions: Engage in professional development and team communication for continuous improvement
Assist in the development of repair procedures and standards: Contribute to the establishment of efficient and effective ULD repair practices
Exemplify PrimeFlight customer service and safety standards
Perform any additional duties as assigned by management
