About The Position

The UI Claims Processor II (Administrative Assistant II) at the Texas Workforce Commission is responsible for providing administrative support within the Unemployment Insurance program. This role involves handling public inquiries, maintaining filing systems, and processing various UI documents. The position is based in El Paso and requires effective communication and organizational skills to manage claims and assist claimants.

Requirements

  • One year of full-time experience in administrative support functions or clerical administration.
  • Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong word processing and data entry skills.
  • Ability to type 45 words per minute with minimal errors.
  • Experience using copiers, printers, scanners, calculators, and fax machines.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Internet Explorer.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish).
  • Experience with document management systems.
  • Automated UI Benefits System experience.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with individuals by phone to retrieve information and enter data into the computer system.
  • Receive and sort faxes and incoming/returned mail.
  • Record, screen, and process Employer Responses, creating cases if needed.
  • Review, process, and route all UI documents, forms, or correspondence to the appropriate parties.
  • Create claims for basic separation issues and non-monetary issues when necessary.
  • Process all appeal documentation that arrives daily using a scanner.
  • Use File Net to quality check all documents as needed.
  • Answer the door intercom and provide visitors with general information.
  • Assist in disseminating basic information regarding the UI filing process and eligibility requirements.
  • Record claimant contacts on the system and monitor lists to ensure claimants have completed their required contacts.
  • Prepare and provide claimants copies of requested documents or correspondence and answer related questions.
  • Research information to solve customer service problems.
  • Process specific tasks such as re-qualification and employer verification forms.
  • Adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Perform related work as assigned.
